Description:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated and highly enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our community respiratory team working in the long covid service.
You will work alongside CCICP respiratory colleagues. You will also be an essential part of the weekly MDT to support patients with long term and complex health needs. Part of the role will be leading the team in service development initiatives and assisting the long covid team manager. You will also ensure junior staff are supported in their roles.
We offer regular supervision and actively encourage progression onto clinical leadership programmes to develop and enhance skills in this area.
Consideration would be given to Band 6 OTs who are looking to progress onto the next level and can provide evidence of their development and aspirations.
In service training specific to the role will be provided as needed.

To act as an advanced clinical specialist, responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients who have post viral and long covid conditions. Providing advanced level assessment and intervention for patients with complex needs.

  • To provide advanced level clinical advice and work as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team to support integrated working for this patient group.
  • To act as the lead clinician within specialist area, supporting the operational delivery of long covid services. They will be responsible for service development initiatives and for positive leadership within the team.
  • Assessment and interventions including fatigue and anxiety management
  • Assessment and provision for home adaptations and equipment
  • Provision of support with benefits and employment
  • Cognitive assessment and support

The CCICP respiratory and long covid team is a dynamic and friendly team with a focus on close working with our CCICP and hospital colleagues and all members of the MDT. You will be supported in developing service initiatives, audits and research and you will be encouraged to participate in leadership activities such as supporting the Team Manager with recruitment and leading on areas of clinical governance.
The CCICP respiratory team is a diverse integrated service supporting hospital avoidance and looking to support patients with fatigue and anxiety management, both in a 1 to 1 setting and in groups.
You will be based in the community at Eaglebridge Health Centre which is situated close to the market town of Nantwich and is a 1 hour commuting distance from Chester, Manchester and Liverpool.
To act as an expert source of knowledge, offering specialist clinical advice and support to other healthcare professional and agencies across organisational boundaries.
To work autonomously to manage a defined highly complex patient caseload whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
To contribute to the delivery of the service in a variety of defined clinical settings, which will include, out-patient and community clinics and in the patient’s home.
To utilise highly advanced communication skills to ensure clinical advice and treatment programmes are delivered sensitively, taking into consideration the needs of carers.
To gain consent for treatment and motivate patients to comply with treatment programmes with consideration to fatigue and anxiety management.
To comply with the Mental Capacity Act to gain valid and informed consent to specific treatment and intervention for patients who lack capacity to consent themselves.
To undertake highly specialist clinical assessment, taking into account all relevant information and clinical reasoning to formulate evidence based individualised treatment plans in agreement with the patient.
To take the lead for clinical audit and research within a highly specialist field of practice, developing clinical practice and treatment outcomes.
To actively contribute innovate ideas and lead on the development and implementation of service improvements
To contribute to the development and delivery of service objectives, leading on designated projects
To lead the recruitment of new junior and assistant staff, as delegated by the team leader, including the planning and delivery of the induction programme
