Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, well-motivated and knowledgeable individual to lead an established Occupational Therapy team working across learning disability services. The team provides specialist OT assessment and interventions for adults with a learning disability in both an inpatient and community setting, serving the whole of Hull and East Yorkshire.
The successful applicant will have excellent engagement skills and be proactive in working with people who may have complex needs. They will be expected to make complex decisions, be aware of risk management and set a positive example to the wider team. They will provide leadership and regular clinical advice, supervision, support and annual appraisal to an OT staff group across CTLD, LD IST and the inpatient unit to ensure safe, effective, and responsive care is delivered. They will work with all stakeholders to contribute to learning and development of OT staff.
The applicant will understand the complex needs of people with learning disabilities and be able to demonstrate this with recent and on-going clinical professional development. They will be expected to share knowledge of effective evidence-based strategies around a person’s sensory, physical, social and environmental needs. They will manage a caseload of individual’s with a learning disability including those with complex needs, using evidenced based /person centred principles to assess plan, implement and evaluate specialist interventions.
The post holder will be expected to work autonomously, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to provide effective holistic Occupational Therapy assessment and consultation at an advanced level of practice to enable people to develop functional abilities, and occupational functioning. They will be responsible for clinical leadership of the occupational therapy team within learning disability services .
The Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust OT service support use of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS), Sensory Integration (SI), Occupational Formulation (OF)and other evidence-based approaches.
The candidate will be able to evidence project work that has impacted on practice and demonstrate a high level of communication, planning and abilities that can positively influence others, playing a crucial role in the development and review of the service. The candidate is expected to have a high level of clinical knowledge. The candidate is expected to be able to share knowledge around effective evidence-based strategies.
