Description:

We have an exciting new career development opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist with an interest in Oncology and/or Haematology to join our expanding Pharmacy Cancer team in Swansea Bay University Health Board. Our team comprises of a number of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians with a breadth of knowledge and experience. We have well-established links with the Cancer Services directorate and operate a range of non-medical prescriber clinics and organisation of homecare services.
Singleton hospital is a Cancer Centre providing services to the population of South West Wales. SWWCC includes a Radiotherapy Department, Oncology and Haematology Chemotherapy day units, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and a dedicated Oncology/Haematology ward.
Singleton hospital looks out over the sweep of Swansea Bay, 5 minutes’ walk from the beach and within 15 minutes’ drive to the award winning coast of the Gower peninsula, the UK’s first area of outstanding natural beauty.

Successful candidates will be appointed to either of the following roles dependant on qualifications:

  • Advanced Pharmacist – Band 8a : If personal specification is met and experience supports appointment

OR

  • Clinical Pharmacist – Band 7

You will work with other cancer services pharmacists to develop and deliver clinical pharmacy services for the Cancer Services Department. This will include lead responsibility for one or more tumour sites within Oncology and/or Haematology, participation in pharmacist-led clinics and MDT meetings, development and checking of chemotherapy protocols and clinical screening of chemotherapy prescriptions on the Chemocare prescribing system. You will have full support of the Lead Pharmacists for Oncology and Haematology and the wider Pharmacy teams at Singleton and across the integrated Health Board. If you do not hold a non-medical prescribing qualification you will be given the opportunity and support to undertake this additional training.
You will also provide cover in our licensed aseptic unit which supports clinical pharmacy services by providing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies and CIVAS. Duties will include supervision and release of individually prepared and batch manufactured medicines.
The post holder will also be involved with supervising and delivering training to junior staff (including trainee and clinical diploma pharmacists), undertake quality improvement and safety audit work and provide education to other health professionals and undergraduates based on the Swansea University Singleton Campus.
