Description:

The role As an Advanced Researcher, you will exemplify Queensland Health’s core values and ensure adherence to defined service quality standards and health and safety policies. Your role involves leveraging specialised scientific expertise in environmental health to gather and critically analyse relevant evidence and research. You will actively participate in both departmental and extramural research activities, utilising environmental health monitoring data to inform evidence-based clinical and regulatory decisions.
Furthermore, your contributions to policy and strategy development will be guided by your high-level scientific knowledge, enabling you to apply evidence and judgment effectively in risk management and communication processes. Through your comprehensive reports, presentations, and expert advice, you will facilitate informed decision-making among various stakeholders while demonstrating strong management skills to lead and monitor programs and strategies based on expert analysis of monitoring data, thereby contributing to population health outcomes.
The successful personTo excel in this role, you should possess proven specialised knowledge and skills in contemporary health statistics, as well as expertise in research design and analysis methods relevant to environmental health practice. Your ability to apply evidence-based principles to facilitate innovative decisions in complex environmental health scenarios or multidisciplinary practices is crucial.
Additionally, you should demonstrate proficiency in providing guidance to senior managers and stakeholders regarding environmental health monitoring and surveillance methods and service requirements. Your capacity to drive change through quality improvement initiatives and offer clinical supervision to personnel highlights your leadership abilities.
Please note that candidates must hold at least a tertiary degree in science or applied science with a significant statistical component, or in medical or environmental science with statistical emphasis. While not mandatory, possessing a master’s degree or PhD (or substantial progress towards one) with a significant focus on statistics, biostatistics, or epidemiology related to public health is highly desirable to fulfill the competencies required for this position.
