Description:

  • ASIC is seeking a full-time Adviser to join their Strategic Planning & Intelligence Team
  • Permanent position based in Sydney or Melbourne
  • Salary starting from $90,749 (plus 15.4% superannuation) depending on experience

    The team
    The Strategic Planning & Intelligence (SP&I) team is part of ASIC’s Intelligence & International (I&I) group and drives our intelligence-led regulatory approach, using data-informed insights and intelligence.
    In the SP&I team you will apply your research and analytical skills to identify and understand trends in financial products and markets, evaluate current risks and predict future risks in the regulated environment using multiple data sources, and enhance ASIC’s strategic decision making.
    The role

Playing a major role in shaping the communications for the team, including planning, outputs, impact testing, and the presentation of findings

  • Contributing to the I&I Group’s ability to influence and persuade regulatory decision-making across ASIC
  • Supporting project planning and administration processes – including for SP&I’s leadership of ASIC’s strategic prioritisation and regulatory threats and harms identification processes
  • Assisting with research on strategic and emerging regulatory threats and harms [or risks] to guide ASIC’s prioritisation and decision-making
  • Contributing to reports, presentations, briefings and correspondence on economic and financial market issues for senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Assisting other teams and working across ASIC on multi-disciplinary team projects

About you

Tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, communications, business or commerce

  • Understanding of ASIC’s regulated businesses and strategic goals
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex analysis and potential solutions to different target audiences
  • Creativity and drive for problem solving and achieving project outcomes
  • Understanding of current economic and financial issues and their implications for ASIC in its role as a regulator
  • Understanding of how financial markets operate and what drives good and poor consumer outcomes
  • Ability to undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis to a high standard
