    Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
    As part of the Assessment group within our Regulatory Practice and Delivery group, our Clearances team plays an active role in enabling major infrastructure projects to proceed, to keep New Zealand moving forward. Working in close collaboration with a variety of other Government Agencies, we have an important role in the acquisition, use and disposal of land assets across New Zealand.
    Our Clearances team is made up of enthusiastic and technically savvy professionals. They undertake quality assurance on work submitted by accredited suppliers acting for central and local government agencies and make robust, reason based statutory decisions under delegation. You will work alongside assessing and making decisions under the Public Works Act.
    We are looking for someone who is energetic, agile, collaborative and seeking to build a knowledge of the Public Works Act, to provide technical expertise on Clearances issues. As part of the team, you will work with your colleagues and peers in an agile, inclusive and delivery focused way that puts the customer at the centre of our decisions.

    Ideally, you’ll join us with some experience in land and property, interpreting legislation and decision-making. Your experience can be from anywhere, but you must have an interest in the NZ land and property industry and a willingness to develop and build a new area of knowledge or expertise.
    These capabilities, combined with your excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, will see you build networks with external service providers, stakeholders and internal colleagues. Using your strong written communication skills, you will review various pieces of work using a critical thinking lens informed by statute, case law and regulatory guidance and provide insightful feedback on sensitive and complex matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Background, experience and/or knowledge of land and property
  • Decision-making experience within a regulatory environment
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation and frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Peer review and quality assurance experience
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to deliver quality outcomes in a timely manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and build strong working relationships
  • Customer-centric and agile approach to work
  • Understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti and Māori Crown Relations
    The annual salary range for this role is: $88,000 - $98,000 dependant on skills and experience.
