JOB DESCRIPTION

Our Macraes-based Environmental team are looking for an experienced Environmental Advisor to provide environmental, site and consent knowledge to relevant projects either by management, coordination or participation in projects.
The position will be responsible for ensuring that there are robust monitoring, reviewing and reporting systems in place in order to demonstrate compliance with consent conditions. Additionally, this role will work to ensure relevant projects within the Environmental area (or in conjunction with other departments as required) are completed in an accurate and timely manner that ensures compliance with statutory acts, regulations, consent conditions and company environmental standards to sustain OceanaGold’s “Social Licence to Operate”.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a tertiary qualification in Environmental or Earth Sciences, Resource Management or similar
  • Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive 4WD and manual vehicles is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ work experience in a regulatory monitoring environment, Mining environment experience highly preferred, but not essential;
  • Environmental monitoring and reporting including consent compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the operation to meet all OceanaGold standards and guidelines. Participate or lead audits on company standards (environmental and safety) as required. Conduct environmental inspections.
  • Coordinating the monitoring and reporting of environmental impacts eg. noise, water quality, air quality and ecology). A moderate level of fitness is required.
  • Liaising with personnel, consultants, auditors and legal advisors to ensure company environmental targets are achieved.
  • Providing specialist environmental advice to projects and personnel as required
  • Preparing and review management plans in conjunction with the relevant departments to ensure consent and legal compliance
  • Monitoring and assessment of water, sound, air quality, vibration, ground settlement, energy and carbon, waste, and rehabilitation activities. A moderate level of fitness is required.
  • Ensuring site awareness of regulatory and statutory obligations through day-to-day interaction and specific training and awareness.
  • Managing projects.
