COMPANY DESCRIPTION

This is a newly created role for an Agriculture Data Analyst within our organisation based on the growth throughout Warakirri Asset Management.
Warakirri Asset Management Pty Ltd is a leading Australian funds manager, offering specialist investment vehicles and services to retail and wholesale investors with a focus on ethical investment, actively managed agriculture, and equities. We are a private company, 100% owned by our directors and employees, and we have a Board of Directors with majority independent director representation. The focus of this position is one of the agricultural entities.
The role reports to the Senior Agribusiness Analyst. The Senior Analyst is extremely friendly, collaborative, energetic and enjoys teaching people news skills. This role will work collaboratively with the financial, commercial and operational teams that support the agricultural entities. The role is focused on further developing data insights and analytics across the business via the development and rollout of Power BI Dashboards and other data-driven tools.

THE DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY ARE:

  • A detail-orientated self-starter and team player, with the ability to work independently.
  • Practical experience with database systems and SQL queries, along with experience in or willingness to learn scripting and programming languages such as SQL.
  • Experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI and DAX.
  • Experience using advanced Excel for analytics and/or model development, with skills in VBA programming and Power Query.
  • Experience in data visualisation with good attention to detail, tailoring reports to the target audience.
  • Advantageous to have or willingness to learn programs to optimise business processes such as Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Interest in the application and development of AI tools within Power BI and related business processes.
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate data feeds and develop scalable Power BI dashboards for various target audiences, including the display of spatial data.
  • Optimise and standardise existing reports, particularly the transition of spreadsheet-based reporting to BI visualisation.
  • Enhance existing databases and align business processes to facilitate high-quality and efficient data capture through the use of tools such as Power Automate.
  • Assist with the development of various analytical tools and investment models using VBA or other programming languages.
  • Undertake investment and operational performance analysis and develop data insights.
  • Develop and expand strong working relationships with internal team members, farm staff, external consultants, and industry professionals.
  • Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders and other subject matter experts to gather information and requirements or respond to concerns or opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop an understanding of key profit drivers within agricultural assets and apply this knowledge to the role.
  • Assist with the preparation of board/advisory papers related to operational, strategic, and portfolio matters, as required.
  • Manage time and processes to ensure project deliverables are presented on time and to a high standard of quality.
