Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

With a vast landscape that facilitates rich wildlife, resident beehives, fresh vegetables, stunning mountain views, and daily sunrises - the Campbell River Golf Club has it all! We provide an inclusive, fun, and positive atmosphere while using the latest and greatest of technology available to the industry. Our Course and Grounds department is made up of a high-performance team of hard-working individuals who enjoy working towards providing a world class golfing experience through superior conditioning and maintenance practices. We are seeking a responsible individual to join our Course and Grounds team in the role of Agriculturist.
The Agriculturist will manage and maintain a private 10,000sqft vegetable garden, 2,500sqft green house, and 5,000sqft fruit orchard for the golf course and resort property. Daily tasks include planting, mulching, weeding, spot spraying, watering, pruning, and fertilizing, as well as harvesting all vegetables and fruit. They will also work with the head chef in creating succession plantings that work within the requirements of the restaurant along with taking on the management of a compost program for the property. The ideal candidate will report to the Horticulturist and possess the leadership skills necessary in supervising multiple Landscape Gardeners reporting to him/her/them.

Your contributions to the team include:

  • Work with the head chef in creating succession plantings that work within the requirements of the restaurant.
  • Maintain the vegetable garden at a high level for plant health as well as aesthetic quality.
  • Manage the Landscape Gardening team on days the Assistant Horticulturist is unavailable.
  • Additional tasks and duties as assigned.

A few things we are looking for in a new team member:

  • 2 years previous experience fruit and vegetable growing, greenhouse or other related experience.
  • Knowledge of soil fertility, water use management, plant health, pest control methods, and plant materials.
  • Strong knowledge of fruit and vegetable production- field and greenhouse.
  • Ability to create and follow a pest management program.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Passion towards creating a cohesive team atmosphere.
