Description:

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Airport Operations Project Manager to join our Airport Operations team. This position typically reports to an Airport Operations Manager and is responsible for managing and coordinating the operational aspects of one or more project(s) and serves as the liaison between facilities, safety, security, and other groups at the airport for sharing information and resolving basic problems. Continually reviews status of the project(s) and budgets to ensure project(s) are completed on time and within budget. This position will develop mechanisms for monitoring project(s) progress, mitigate risk, and assist with problem solving.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Business Administration or related discipline (Aeronautical or Civil Engineering, Aviation, Airport Management) and nine or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field with at least three of those years in project management. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a good understanding of project management processes and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management as well as the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones budgets, and customer timelines.
  • Must be able to develop solutions to problems that require coordination of technologies across program requirements.
  • Must be familiar with state, federal and military aviation regulations, security, and aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF).
  • Should have familiarity with zoning laws, environmental impact analysis, and legal contracts.
  • Strong communication, team building, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Must be able to interpret, analyze, apply and implement complex laws, regulations, manuals, and other materials and communicate clearly and concisely and create effective oral and written presentations.
  • Must be customer focused, able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance is required

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the coordination of airport operational plans and maintenance schedules as well as directs the coordination of operational aspects for airport maintenance teams.
  • Interacts directly with aircrew, maintenance teams, military customers, sub-contractors, facilities management, airport tenants, emergency crews and the public. They must ensure that the airport complies with applicable state, federal and military aviation regulations, and procedures.
  • Participates with senior airport management, technical staff and/or Division/Group to update current, annual, and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business, and financial objectives for the airport and internal and external customer programs.
  • Assist Airport Manager in planning, managing and technical performance of one or more developed or mature program(s) contained at a single location.
  • Required to maintain detailed records of all operations and enforce airfield safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Assist Airport Manager in coordinating and execute modifications or improvements related to the airfield’s daily operations.
  • Interacts with internal and external representatives at various levels concerning resolution of technical and scheduling issues.
  • May participate with Group management in pursuing business partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that enhance the capabilities of the Group/Company and may result in new products, programs, and business opportunities.
  • Manage the development of and ensure the security of proprietary technology and maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP certificate or equivalent
  • Ten or more years of airport, civil or military aircraft maintenance management experience with at least five of those years managing airports or programs.
  • Served in military Maintenance Control or Production Supervisor positions and operations centers

  • Experience with FAA rules and regulations for civilian aircraft
