Western Health is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Allied Health Team Leader (SW3/OT3) to lead our Allied Health team at Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre on a full-time basis.
The Sunshine Mental Health & Wellbeing Centre (SMH&WC) is a purpose-built facility with two 26 bed units. The Allied Health Team Leader role will lead and support the Allied Health and Lived Experience Workforce across both units. The Allied Health Team Leader (SW3/OT3) is an operational leadership role, with the primary function to work closely with the Program Manager to provide operational support and clinical leadership to the IPU team. The role of the Allied Health Team Leader (SW3/OT3) has a specific focus on operational and clinical support of the allied health and lived experience workforce; and to provide senior clinical expertise to SMHWC leadership team in review and planning of complex care for consumers, reducing restrictive interventions, and service improvement and development.

Responsibilities:

  • The role of Allied Team Leader, in collaboration with the Nursing Team Leader, is to support the Program Manager in activities/tasks related to the safety and quality of services provided by the IPU team; responding to Riskman incidents and consumer and carer feedback, identifying opportunities for improvement and/or risk reduction, and actioning identified opportunities in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • The role also involves responsibility for day to day operational tasks related to the Allied Health and peer workforce such as maintaining rosters and roster-on, recruitment activities, orientation, well-being support, professional development and performance management activities, clinical problem-solving support, and chairing local IPU meetings/forums/reflective practice.
  • The Allied Health Team Leader is a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team and is accountable for effective clinician care commensurate with their advanced clinical skills and who strives to deliver excellent care to patients and their families. This also includes participation in service improvement activities.
  • The OT3/SW3 fulfils the roles and responsibilities of the Team Leader role whilst demonstrating expert knowledge and skills. The Allied Health Team Leader is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, assisting the Program Manager in the course of their duties to ensure efficient operation of the Allied Health and peer teams within the wider SMHWC clinical environment. The clinician works within the professional standards, codes and behaviours as legislated through the Health Act, relevant professional bodies, and Western Health Policy, Standards and Practice Guidelines.
