WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU BRING

  • Your education will consist of a completed University degree in a related discipline (i.e., Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science) or combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Experience conducting climate change risk and vulnerability assessments and working knowledge of common industry climate risk assessment protocols such as PIEVC Protocol, ISO310000, ISO14091, ICLEI BARC, Canada’s Climate Lens Guidance, or other risk assessment frameworks is a definite asset.
  • Your application will reveal working knowledge of climate change risk and vulnerability assessments and framework, and organizational climate adaption planning.
  • Your application will reveal experience in large public agencies or private sector firms in the areas of organizational climate adaptation and/or environmental sustainability.
  • You must have demonstrated working knowledge of local, national, and international best practices related to environmental sustainability related to buildings.
  • Your application will also reveal experience reviewing engineering design drawing and specifications for sustainability and climate action opportunities and/or compliance with sustainability standards (e.g., LEED, WELL, SITES, RELi, Net Zero Carbon Standard).
  • Your application will reveal experience with analyses of large data sets.
  • Your application must also reveal proven capability to support programs and projects.
  • You must be self-motivated with ability to accomplish tasks with limited supervision.
  • Your application will reveal proficiency in the use of computer and software applications, including presentations, databases, spreadsheets, word processing and any business continuity digital platform.
  • An understanding of data science tools (e.g., RStudio, Python) and BI tools such (e.g., PowerBI) is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • You will report to the Senior Analyst, and you will be responsible for supporting implementation of the TTC’s strategic approach to sustainability and climate resilience, and analyses to aid integration of sustainability and climate resilience measures into projects and practices.
  • You will support through data analyses, identification of climate vulnerabilities and adaptation measures, tracking TTC’s environmental sustainability performance, as well as aid in the development of guidance documents and plans.
  • You will create a climate adaptation plan in consultation with stakeholders and support of senior staff.
  • You will support the development and implementation of a climate risk management framework and procedures to ensure effective risk controls and mitigation, including the development of operational key risk indicators, and benchmarking performance against established tolerances and thresholds.
  • Additionally, you will also perform project level risk analyses to identify vulnerabilities and severity of impacts of the built environment in a lifecycle process to climate change that is included in asset management plans.
  • The projects cover various assets including infrastructure, facilities, and rolling stock.
  • You will also make recommendations for inclusion of climate adaptation measures, including adjustments to engineering designs, construction, and/or operations, and tracking actions to closure.
  • You will develop a climate change impact reporting system to track and report on climate change events and impacts to the TTC in consultation with stakeholders and support of senior staff.
  • You will apply quantification methodologies to estimate and analyze performance of TTC’s portfolio and specific projects for key environmental sustainability indicators such as greenhouse gas emissions, water, waste, and ecology.
  • You will develop business cases for implementation of environmental sustainability measures.
  • You will maintain TTC’s greenhouse gas emissions inventory in alignment with industry standards and protocols.
  • You will process energy utility data for weather normalization and regression analysis.
  • You will facilitate and coordinate the development of corporate sustainability reporting and external disclosure.
