Description:
RFA’s residential mortgage lending business is operated by RFA Mortgage Corporation and RFA Bank of Canada, a federally regulated Schedule I Bank. RFA Mortgage Corporation specializes in Prime lending (Insured, Insurable, Uninsurable), while RFA Bank of Canada is a balance sheet based Alternative mortgage lender (Alt-A and B lending). Combined, RFA offers mortgage brokers a one-stop shop with our full suite of competitive Prime and Alternative mortgages.
RFA’s strategic vision is to be a long-term leader in the residential lending segment by offering a value proposition beyond just rate and compensation. Through building a competitive broker experience and solutions-oriented product suite, RFA’s goal is to be recognized and recommended by our mortgage broker partners, mortgagors, and other strategic partners, for our financing solutions and broker/client experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with the portfolio review of the Bank’s Commercial and Construction lending risk assessment supporting the 2nd Line’s independent and robust challenge.
- Helps Monitor, Track, Identify and Report on key risk measures for the portfolio, loan performance, policy management and regulatory initiatives.
- Participate in the development, expansion of the Bank’s governance programs, risk initiatives and analysis in support of Bank’s Risk Appetite Framework.
- Assist the Vice President in conducting credit reviews on an ad hoc basis or as part of regular credit submissions, updates from the 1st line.
- Gather, synthesize, report and present external market and industry toward advancing risk assessment, ECL, policy, and guideline development.
- Contribute to and track action items and target dates to address internal audit and external audit findings, risks arising from business or other changes, risk events, and emerging risks.
- Performs verification, challenge of policies, guidelines and procedures aimed at improving key risk management and measurement business assumptions.
- Perform review of Credit Quality of underwriting, adherence to Policies and Procedures, Guidelines, Watchlist and Pre-Watchlist reporting and Risk Appetite Framework etc.
- Conduct financial assessments of borrowers, partners, industry, and economic events.
- Assist in maintaining, updating, or revising other risk-related policies and guidelines (Credit Risk Framework, RAF, ECL policy, etc.).
- Support in preparing quarterly Risk Reports for Senior Management/Board reporting. Assists in the development and maintenance of the frameworks for Stress Testing, Model Risk Management and end user computing controls and conducts as needed, related lifecycle activities (e.g., risk assessments, business impact analysis, etc.).
- Perform periodic assessments to validate policy and guideline compliance on an ongoing basis to ensure that proper controls are in place and risks are appropriately mitigated.
- Demonstrates high level of technical and professional knowledge.
- Maintains awareness of current developments and emerging issues potentially affecting the Bank’s risk profile, shares knowledge of current trends and provides thought leadership.
- Fosters a culture of collaboration, integrity, compliance, and internal control throughout the Bank.
- Provides subject matter expertise to Business and Functional Units on the interpretation and application of ERM’s risk framework development and implementation and assists in developing and conducting related training.
- Effectively discharges other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Vice President
