Description:

ASIA INVESTOR GROUP ON CLIMATE CHANGE (AIGCC)

Role description:
This role will be responsible for informing and co-ordinating projects to monitor and evaluate the progress of the world’s largest green house gas emitters toward action on climate change as part of the Climate Action 100+ initiative. It will also play a co-ordination role with the other global programs within the initiative to ensure consistency in reporting and engagement progress.
At a regional level, you will also be expected to conduct analysis of the transition plans of some companies, or for specific sectors, to support the corporate engagement activities undertaken by investor signatories. Typical areas of research include the benchmarking of a company’s performance against peer companies in its transition to low carbon and/or net zero and identifying relevant complementary analysis to help investors shape their corporate engagement agenda.
The role reports to the Director of Stewardship and Corporate Engagement and will work alongside two other colleagues, splitting coverage across companies, sectors and global projects/ working groups. This role requires flexibility in working hours for participation in global working group meetings,
Main responsibilities:

Global projects

  • Inform, co-ordinate and represent AIGCC’s internal views on global projects, to integrate / complement regional considerations in assessments and engagement programs.
  • Identify and utilise tools from regional data providers, service providers, reports and briefs to support your analysis of company transition plans.

Regional projects

  • Organise company engagement meetings with CA100+ investors, note-taking and track meeting progress.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director on engagement progress and propose relevant stewardship tools to build momentum into company engagements.
  • Collaborate with initiatives from other AIGCC workstreams as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in a relevant area - ideally finance, economics and/or environment.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in investment and equities analysis, ESG, shareholder engagement, or corporate sustainability.
  • Project management experience to deliver quantifiable outcomes (such as statistics to support and strategic decision), or qualitative briefs (such as company profiles to inform engagements)
  • Proficiency in word, excel and project management/IT/CRM platforms
  • Experience in relationship management and coordinating with partners and/or consultants to deliver a project outcome.
  • Strong organisational, project management, writing, verbal communication and interpersonal and skills.
  • Fluency in an Asian language (Chinese, Korean, Japanese) is preferrable but not a requirement
  • Able to work well independently and as a team member in remote work settings.
  • Desire to work in a mission-driven and non-profit environment.
