The Opportunity
Our Separation Management Office & Corporate Strategy (SMO&CS) team is looking to an #EnergyProblemSolver to our creative, transparent, and accountable strategic planning team, based in Calgary, AB,
Reporting to the Director, Separation Management Office (SMO) and Corporate Strategy, this position will help set the long-term corporate strategic plan for one of North America’s largest energy infrastructure portfolios. The analyst will partner with groups across multiple lines of business and jurisdictions, leveraging critical thinking, systems approach, organizational and communication skills to work with colleagues at all levels of the company. Collaboration will be paramount.

What You’ll Do

  • Support TC’s corporate strategic planning and related initiatives aligning with our Gas and Power & Energy Solutions business unit strategies and TC’s sustainability and energy transition goals
  • Coordinate executive and Board-level reporting deliverables, ensuring accurate, succinct, and validated content (e.g., President’s Report, executive and Board strategic planning sessions, Board of Directors Governance Committee materials)
  • Contribute to the Separation Management Office (SMO), focused on the functional separation of TC Energy and South Bow
  • Monitor and support assessment of key corporate strategic parameters, such as value proposition, risk preferences, scenario development, signpost monitoring, SWOT and peer comparisons, and energy fundamentals perspectives with internal subject matter experts and external market monitoring
  • Contribute to managing cross-functional work, including enterprise risk management, for our executive-level department, which includes the Capital Allocation & Portfolio Management, Corporate Development, Energy Transition, and PES business unit teams
  • Align and collaborate to develop internal and external communications products including for capital markets audiences (e.g., investor quarterly call prep and materials, Management discussion and analysis (MD&A) contributions, Strategic Intelligence Memos (SIM))
  • Administer enterprise subscriptions to third-party energy fundamentals services

Minimum qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education in a related field (statistics, math, finance, commerce, economics)
  • Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered
  • 6 years of progressive business experience, with the ability to demonstrate and communicate relevance of that experience to strategic planning
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated success in contributing to business results
  • Proven experience researching and synthesizing technical and non-technical information into concise, engaging and easy to understand language in multiple formats depending on audience
  • Superior oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy and adapting style and content to meet goals and counterparty needs
  • Data analytics and interpretation experience with proven ability to make recommendations to team leadership
  • Ability to analyze and interpret energy supply and demand fundamentals
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, etc. to ensure confidentiality and corporate policy compliance while facilitating appropriate information sharing and transparency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the energy industry and capital markets
  • Post-graduate degree in a related field
  • Experience using presentation or data visualization tools such as think-cell
  • Proven ability to leverage negotiating strategies and tactics to reach mutually agreeable solutions
  • Familiarity with the energy infrastructure industry or other large-scale corporate strategy or sustainability context
  • Experience with corporate strategic planning initiatives and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies
  • Experience with or exposure to enterprise risk management programs or processes

This position requires candidates to:

  • Travel to other company locations for overnight stays or temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required (estimated up 15% of work schedule)
  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
