Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care (CoC), we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
Job Summary
The Government Affairs Department advocates for effective policies and increased resources at the federal, state, and local levels and facilitates local policy and systems change efforts to reduce and end homelessness in Los Angeles. Under the supervision of the Legislative Affairs Manager, the Legislative Affairs Analyst will play a key role in advancing LAHSA’s legislative priorities and policy initiatives with area policymakers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Intricate knowledge of legislative process and procedures at the municipal, county, and state level;
  • Comfort communicating with a variety of personalities;
  • Experience interacting with elected officials and staff;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Knowledge of homeless services system preferred but not required.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven professional experience and educational background.

Schedule

  • The Chief Executive Officer or designee may change the schedule of positions between remote, hybrid and onsite, as necessary to accomplish LAHSA’s business needs.
