The Opportunity:
We are looking for a 12-month term Analyst, QA to join our IT team and cover a 12-month Maternity Leave. Reporting to the Manager, Solution Analysis, you will join a team of QA Analyst professionals at our Halifax location where we offer you a Hybrid work option.

Key elements of this role include::

  • Responsible for the test portion of the project plan (tasks, dependencies, effort, resources, timeline)
  • Develops test objectives, test strategies and test plans.
  • Coordinates all test activities and testing resources within each assigned project.
  • Measures progress, monitors and reports on the status of the test initiatives against the plan and acceptance criteria.
  • Identifies issues & risks to the Project
  • Lead, coach and support test team members as required (Test Leader)
  • Responsible for planning, monitoring and control of all testing related tasks.
  • Estimates the testing to be done and secures appropriate testing resources.
  • Leads the analysis, design, implementation and execution of test cases.
  • Ensure the traceability of all test cases and defects back to business requirements or required functionality
  • Ensure integrity and readiness of the technical test environment(s) for all test activities
  • Track and manage defects (including identification, assessment, prioritization, tracking, retesting)
  • Work with the source teams (vendor, IT, business) to manage delivery of defect resolutions (e.g.: Emergency Break Fixes from vendor, environment fixes from IT, configuration or business process fixes from business.
  • Responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Quality Assurance leadership role (Test Lead), on technology intensive projects.
  • Experience using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience building and executing testing plans plus experience supervising people in testing roles.
  • Acute attention to detail and an ability to work under pressure are critical attributes of the role along with communicating to management with well supported recommendations.
  • Team player qualities and the ability to set high performance expectations within a team and be able to motivate and support individuals to achieve them.
  • Quality Assurance certifications are an asset.

We offer remote work opportunities, to be discussed with your leader, however you are required to live in or be willing to relocate Nova Scotia for this role.
