JOB DESCRIPTION
We invite you to bring your energy and skills into play as you work on international, EU, Belgian and French projects on sustainability. To succeed in this role, you are fluent both in French and English, you have knowledge of environmental transition and sustainable development issues, and a good understanding of how public institutions address these topics. Having an experience or an academic background in sustainable urban and regional planning is an advantage.
The opportunity we offer is an internship through the Belgian CIP (professional induction programme) and has a duration of one year with a performance review after six months. The internship period is expected to start during the summer. It will be remunerated at 1,100 EUR net per month and will include normal social security contributions and holidays. The working languages are French and English.
Responsibilities:
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Working on projects contributing to strategy and decision-making in the EU for public clients – especially the European Commission and a wide range of local and national authorities in France and Belgium
- Contributing to a broad diversity of assignments such as policy studies, coordination of implementation projects, evaluations, strategy development, stakeholder consultations, network management, workshop facilitation
- Working across a range of policy areas relevant to the EU green-deal and sustainability transition overall, with a focus on green cities, urban and regional development, EU Cohesion Policy, and smart mobility
- Contributing to market surveillance and tendering work
- Undertaking administrative task

- You have a Bachelor’s degree and are either in the final stages of, or have completed, a Master’s Degree in a relevant field, which may include social and political science, economics, geography, urban planning, civil engineering, or sustainability, where you are/were among the top students.
- You have knowledge of and interest in several of the areas mentioned above.
- You are analytical, structured, organised, and good at handling many tasks at the same time, and have an excellent command of French and English, both written and oral.
- It is an advantage if you are fluent in one or more additional European languages.
- It is an advantage if you have experience in projects/research in the field of green cities and/or EU Cohesion Policy
- You show excellent command of Microsoft Office 365 suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.); command of GIS software is a plus (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS
