This position is eligible for a hybrid work model. When attending an event or meeting in person, your primary office location will be based out of Sims Square – 390 brant Street, Burlington Ontario. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.
Position Overview
The Analyst, Workday Reporting, a key member of the Product Management team that supports both the Human Resources and Finance Department. This position will play a crucial role in bridging Human Resources and Finance functions. This position is responsible for providing expert consultation and collaboration with cross-functional teams, acting as both the business analyst and configuration specialist for Workday reporting data and analytics. The analyst will work closely with the process team and business process owners to gather requirements and develop data-driven reports, delivering actionable insights and recommendations.
Responsibilities

As the subject matter expert, you will be responsible to:

  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders across the organization, understand collective agreement needs, to identify and define business requirements for reports.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy customized reporting solutions that meet these requirements. This includes matrix and composite reports, using Workday’s report writing tools as well as other tools and available technologies.
  • Identify areas of opportunity to consolidate and streamline reports.
  • Review the effectiveness of reporting solutions, improve current reports, or operationalize new reports/methods as needed.
  • Run, schedule and/or distribute reports to support assigned functional area (automating wherever possible).
  • Perform basic data analysis, research, and correct data integrity issues and/or errors and provide feedback regarding issues, opportunities, or challenges.
  • Support the creation/transition of reports and dashboard in Workday.
  • Train and support end-users in accessing and interpreting Workday reports and dashboards.
  • Stay updated with Workday updates and enhancements, integrating new features into existing reporting processes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for reporting processes, ensuring clear guidelines and procedures are available for team members and stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, providing expertise on data analytics and reporting to support organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, data science management, or business.
  • Workday Pro Certification in Financials Reporting and Reporting (HCM) is considered an asset. At minimum Workday Report Writer and Calculated Fields certificate required.
  • Workday Pro and/or certification within areas of HCM and Finance is recommended.
  • Workday Composite Reporting Fundamentals and Advance Reporting and Analytics is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years progressive experience in Workday and report writing in a complex, public sector environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly with team members and stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of business requirements and successful deployment of customized reporting solutions.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify opportunities for report consolidation and streamlining, improve existing reporting solutions, and address data integrity issues efficiently.
