Le service fiscalité canadienne, qui fait partie du département de fiscalité regroupant aussi la fiscalité américaine et la fiscalité internationale, a pour mission d’assurer la saine gestion des questions fiscales canadiennes dans un environnement en constante évolution. Il doit donc s’assurer de mettre en place les meilleures pratiques pour tout ce que touche la fiscalité canadienne en tenant compte de l’impact de ces pratiques sur le reste du groupe.
Le service de fiscalité canadienne doit, entre autres, s’assurer de participer activement à la réduction du fardeau fiscal global de la société, à la consolidation de la provision d’impôts globale et au respect de la conformité fiscale canadienne. Il doit aussi s’assurer de faire bénéficier son expertise en fiscalité canadienne à tous les services internes de Domtar.
Relevant du Gestionnaire, fiscalité canadienne, vous aurez, en tant qu’Analyste principal(e), fiscalité canadienne, à fournir du soutien au Gestionnaire à toutes les questions touchant la fiscalité canadienne.

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in accountancy;
  • Master’s degree in taxation or completion of the CICA In-dept tax courses (an asset);
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate Canadian taxation;
  • Acute knowledge of GAAP on deferred taxes;
  • Keen knowledge of Taxprep and the Microsoft Office suite;
  • CPA professional designation is a definite asset;
  • Knowledge in commodity taxes is a definite asset;
  • Knowledge of OneSource software or other tax provision software is an asset;
  • Knowledge of SAP and Longview or similar accounting software is a definite asset;
  • Strong communication skills and bilingual in both English* and French (written and spoken)

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the Canadian quarterly and annual tax provision, research and document related tax accounting issues and participate actively in the consolidated tax provision;
  • Prepare the Canadian tax returns, from data collection to filling the returns;
  • Assist with commodity tax questions;
  • Assist the Manager in dealing efficiently and timely with tax audits;
  • Prepare technical tax position memorandums on Canadian tax issues and participate in various strategic projects. These efforts will be a key contribution to the decision making process of the finance group;

    • This is required since as part of this function, you will have to intervene with customers, partners and/or our American subsidiaries on a recurring basis, both orally and in writing.
