Position: Anesthesia Technician
Shift: Full Time Days
Bonus: $5,000 $1250 at 6 months, $1250 at 12 months, $1250 at 18 months, $1250 at 24 months

Provide quality patient care that is cost effective while providing an environment conducive to teaching.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs equipment safety checks and QI on; Gem-premier, NOVA, Anesthesia machines, I-statb. Follows Confidentiality Policy/Procedure.Complies with Infection Control Guidelines.
Creates a Safe Environment: Fall Precaution, Patient I.D., Unit/Departmental Specific Policies, Understands principle of electrical safety in the OR and work area.Respects patient/guest personal property.Adheres to hospital wide and specific department safety regulations: Fire and Tornado, Environmental Safety, CPR.
Performs equipment safety checks.Complies with patient’s rights/regulations.Performs anesthesia machine maintenance: Checks tanks, bellows, scavenging tubing. Checks vaporizers for leaks; Checks anesthesia machines for leaks.Ensures that equipment is in the OR room including: Hotline; Syringe Pump; Bair Huggers; Biz Monitor, IV poles.Coordinator of Services:
Functions as Preceptor Coordinates workflow by communicating to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.Demonstrates ability to direct and/or assist with the work activities of department consistent with anesthesia needs and staff capabilities. Identifies and resolves problems related to anesthesia, patient, physicians, staff and equipment.Assembles all necessary equipment and airway support equipment for anesthesia performed in remote locations, including: CAT scan, MRI, GI lab/ERCP, EP lab, NM, Heart Center, ECT, Minor Procedure and Test and Treatment (Peds).Identify anesthesia needs, seeking clarification as necessary.Orders the anesthesia gases in collaboration with Pharmacy.Covers all shifts as required, including nights and weekends.Signing up for call is required including nights, Holidays, and weekendsk. Assist in pre-op holding as requested.Primary Aspects:
Demonstrates proper time management skills and priority setting. Turn Over of anesthesia machine by wiping down the machine and Lionville cart by following the infection control standard set by the department after each case: Circuits, blades,stimulator, etc. Monitors daily schedules to provide necessary equipment for routine and specialty anesthesia cases. May replenish supplies in remote areas including: All travel carts, Airway carts, GI Lab, X-ray, Test and Treatment, Cancer Center, and MRI carts Has knowledge of all anesthesia equipment used by the Anesthesia staff. -Demonstrates competency in checking anesthesia machine circuits and system. - Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot and performs minor corrections on equipment. - Identify and set up equipment and supplies needed for difficult intubation, including: ET tubes, circuits and masks, laryngoscope blades, self-inflating resuscitation bags, and trans-tracheal jet ventilation devices. Demonstrates aseptic and sterile techniques for all invasive anesthesia procedures: Arterial line insertion, Central line insertion; Swan Ganz insertion Describe airway management utilizing emergency intubation kits, fiberoptic bronchoscopes, bullards, LMAs, and emergency cricothyrotomy sets. Demonstrates flexibility regarding workload, assignments and schedule.Cleans departmental equipment including but not limited to Bronchoscopes, Bullards, Video scopes, Glidescopes, TEE probe, and LMAs, according to manufacturers guidelines Uses down time productively by: Cleaning of all equipment and workroom.
Communicates with other coworkers and Anesthesia providers. Communicates with Bio-med to report equipment problems using Bar Code Identification Method and/or serial number.Makes independent decisions in routine and complex situations and informs appropriate persons of actions and results. Fills out a online work order related to broken equipment, including equipment that is sent out for repair.Technology: Demonstrates competence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Must have one year experience in a hospital related work environment such as a PCA
  • Required Education: High school diploma Licensure
  • Certifications: Preferred anesthesiology Technician Certification
