Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services - Western Zone (NLHS - WZ) is currently seeking the services of a permanent Anesthesiologist for Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, Newfoundland. The position involves a combination of booked OR schedules, pre-admission clinics, and weekly/weekend call obligations. An interest in critical care is an asset, and participation in a closed ICU department is a practice benefit.
Corner Brook is the site of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, a 171-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland with a 12 bed ICU. Specialty services include: Obstetrics/Gynecology, General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Family Medicine (Hospitalist) and 24-hour Emergency coverage. Further supportive services include, 24-hour Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory Services, Physiotherapy, Respiratory Therapy, Chemotherapy, Pharmacy, Dialysis, and Palliative Care. There are visiting surgical services for Dental Surgery and pacemakers. We are affiliated with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Medical School, and we encourage and support academic interests.
Summary
Western Memorial Regional Hospital’s Anesthesia department is comprised of a total of eight full-time equivalents. The general accountabilities of the position include providing Anesthesia services within the scope of practice including consultations, pre-anesthesia assessment clinics, coverage to obstetrical patients, provision of an acute and chronic pain service, and on-call coverage for urgent and emergency procedures requiring anesthesia services.
Qualifications Required
Recognized medical degree and eligible for licensure as an Anesthesiologist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified or eligible and meets the credentialing requirements of NLHS - WZ’s Discipline of Perioperative.
Remuneration
" Payment will be pursuant to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Anesthesia Alternate Payment Plan Agreement, annual salary $426,029.76.
" Details of the APP and service provision can be provided upon request to qualified applicants.
" Relocation Allowance is available.
" Physician Signing Bonus and other incentives are available.
