Description:

RSPCA Queensland is a non-government, community-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of domestic, farmed and native animals in Queensland. Our mission statement is simple but powerful: Together We Change Lives.

We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates strong leadership and collaborative skills, with a solid track record in operational management and executing strategic and business objectives effectively.

  • Be responsible for the overall operations of the RSPCA Mackay shelter operations.
  • Ensure RSPCA Five Domains are at the forefront of shelter.
  • Collaboratively and effectively communicate with stakeholders across RSPCA Qld and council departments to ensure the best outcomes for the animals in our care.
  • Financial management of the shelter including accurate budgetary reporting and meeting financial targets.
  • Manage shelter capacity through in care inventories by liaising with necessary stakeholders to coordinate the transfer of animals into and out of the facility.
  • Oversee the animal adoption/intake process and complete the relevant administrative tasks (adoption, returns, private surrender, inspectorate and euthanasia).
  • Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with internal and external relations.
  • Appropriately manage all concerns or complaints that arise as per RSPCA Qld policies.
  • Liaise with relevant departments and coordinate events, educational visits, and fundraising activities.
  • Create and maintain rosters for your team.
  • Take responsibility for the Workplace Health and safety of visitors, staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee the comprehensive training of all staff and volunteers and provide performance management.
  • When required, attend learning and development opportunities at other RSPCA Qld facilities.
  • Meet the communicated objectives of the RSPCA Qld strategic plan and support the Senior Management Team and CEO in their key objectives

The successful candidate will guide and nurture a vibrant, energetic team at the Mackay Animal Care Campus. This role involves collaborating with various departments and overseeing the campus’ overall operations. Autonomous working capabilities and leading a dedicated team are crucial, with a deep commitment to animal welfare being paramount. You and your team will play a crucial role in providing essential support to a diverse range of animals, ensuring their health and welfare needs are consistently met to the highest standards.
