JOB SUMMARY

As an Animal Surgery Technician for our Veterinary Care team in Laval, you will be responsible for the well-being of our laboratory animals. Your contribution will ensure the health of our animals, as well as the integrity of our pre-clinical studies.

In this role, primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and perform surgical procedures in accordance with the requirements of the studies
  • Perform complex study specific surgeries in a wide variety of animal species
  • Perform training, coaching, and signing off on activities for more junior technicians prior to being assigned on a study
  • Work with managers to delegate projects, technical work, and administrative duties as appropriate
  • Provide leadership and counsel for the surgery team

KEY ELEMENTS

We are looking for the following minimum qualifications for this role:

  • College Diploma in Animal Health, Bioecology or any related Animal Science discipline
  • At least 5 years’ experience in surgery (animal or human)
  • Experience in surgery with small and large animals
  • Able to work physically (lift up to 20 kg, walk, stand, stoop, etc.)
  • Understanding of written English is mandatory. Bilingualism French and English is preferable

Please note that upon being hired, you will have to undergo an annual tuberculosis test at the expense of the company.

Responsibilities:

ROLE SPECIFIC INFORMATION:

  • Location: Laval / Free parking / Near the subway Montmorency
  • Premiums: Weekend (2.75$//hrs), Holidays (double time), Overtime (time and half)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday daytime. Depending on the needs, you will have to do overtime and weekend rotation
  • Permanent position as of the hiring, full-time 37.5hrs per week
