Description:
The failsafe officer will ensure all women entering the ‘high chance’ screening pathways has a plan in place. Providing efficient, confidential administrative support, coordinate the daily monitoring and recording of referral updates and results on the local failsafe systems to ensure each woman booked/ baby born has an outcome. Assist the screening midwives/ coordinators in tracking patient results. Collating data for national Key Performance Indicator returns and maintain databases, national IT systems of patients eligible for screening. Liaise within the Screening Teams both internally and external to the organisation to ensure completion of screening pathways.
To work as part of the Screening Team(s) and provide support where needed to the Team.
To adhere to defined Safeguarding protocols and policies.
To organise own time, and to work flexibility to best support service delivery, meeting set targets and deadlines as defined by the service.
To oversee and input of sensitive and specific information with speed and accuracy relating to screening pathways.
To ensure failsafe systems are completed in a timely manner

Manage daily referrals and results for local failsafe systems to ensure each woman booked/ baby born has an outcome or monitor and follow up the referrals for NIPE examination; NHSP screening and NBS ensuring referred babies are seen. Update the management system depending on newborn or antenatal.
Support colleagues with training and developing skills with the using the failsafe systems.
File anomaly reports with NCARDRS - National Congenital Anomaly and Rare Disease Registration Service in newborn screening.
Ability to input data onto Excel spreadsheets, manage appointments and clinic lists and use national newborn database systems
Assist the screening midwives/ coordinators with the screening failsafe on a daily/weekly/ monthly basis as required, tracking women through their screening journey to ensure all screening is offered and completed within set timeframes
Upload care-plans and screening records onto electronic maternity system as requested by screening midwives/ coordinators and ensure all local databases are updated to reflect referrals etc have taken place.
Support MDT meetings and team meetings with administrative tasks, such as meeting arrangements, room booking and minutes required.
Requirement to attend local and regional meetings with screening midwives /coordinators to ensure understanding of the service needs
