The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug services. We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).
About the role
We are seeking an exceptional AOD Team Leader who will provide leadership and be responsible for complex case management activities and oversee the work of case workers at Townsville RSC. This includes assessment and referral, education and support, which delivers a comprehensive client focused service. In addition, this role also involves building networks and partnerships as required. All activities support the achievement of the Mission of The Salvation Army.

You will successfully

  • Monitor the performance of and provide support to therapeutic staff to deliver quality, efficient and effective services, in line with TSA and Recovery Services policy and procedure.
  • Provides leadership for team activities attends and participates in staff meetings.
  • Demonstrates a supportive approach to other staff member
  • Performance or conduct issues are addressed as required
  • In consultation with management identify and implement service delivery improvements.
  • Assist with the development of policy and procedure.
  • Support management and other staff in accreditation and quality assurance processes

You will have

  • Knowledge of or experience in the drug and alcohol service provision.
  • Tertiary or other qualifications within Community Services, Social Work or similar discipline and/or extensive relevant experience.
  • At least two years recovery where applicable.
  • Experience working with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
  • Experience working in collaboration with other organisations to develop and tailor programs to meet clients’ needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour, violence and problems associated with substance abuse and psychiatric conditions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service & continuous improvement strategies
  • Highly effective planning, organisational, problem solving and evaluation skills
  • Energetic and flexible with a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrates on a continual basis, a commitment to assisting and supporting colleagues in all workplace activities
  • Relevant state Working with Children Check is required

This is a permanent, full-time position located in Townsville, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Level 6 Award.
