A day in the life of an Analyst/Associate Relationship Manager

You support the relationship manager in managing the client relationship.

  • You prepare commercial pitches / proposals together with the Relationship Manager / Sector Head.
  • You prepare briefing memos and advice for client meetings.
  • You follow up on pending requests in order to respond in due time to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • You accompany the Relationship Manager / Sector Head in client meetings if required.
  • You help maintain client contacts at treasury level and ensure required follow up.

You develop an internal network that helps you developing ING’s business with its clients.

  • You assist in the alignment with all product teams from all ING business lines.
  • You liaise with product specialists and foreign ING offices and so it is a good way to learn different banking products and meet people within the bank worldwide.
  • You represent our sector in several business-related projects.

You care about data quality & act in line with compliance (20% of your time).

  • You assist in performing Customer Due Diligence and related compliance processes in support of the Relationship manager /Sector Head and your peers.
  • You keep various customer data information systems / tools up to date.

You analyse and monitor data on several levels.

  • You monitor Client Profitability and the realization of our team objectives.
  • You perform analyses on (strategic) clients, sector research and peer analysis.
  • You assist in identifying critical business issues and potential new business opportunities.
  • You are responsible for collecting (strategic) client and sector information and analysing this information to detect new sales opportunities.
  • You monitor information- and news services and inform the Relationship Manager / Sector Head about client and sector developments.

Ideally, you have

  • a master’s degree in economics, finance, engineering, law or other
  • Excellent English skills (written and verbal), French and/or Dutch
  • Good financial analytical skills

The team
Your mission as Analyst/Associate Relationship Manager (also known as “APAM”, associate PAM) is to support our relationship managers in their efforts to grow the business with their customers. These customers include the main Belgian multinational and/or stock-listed companies, and your focus will be the Commodities, Food & Agri clients.
The team you will join is the Corporate & Financial Institutions sector coverage team in Belgium, consisting of following sectors: Technology Media Telecom & Healthcare, Commodities, Food & Agri, Financial Institutions, Corporate Sector Coverage (e.g. Manufacturing & Heavy Industry, Retail, etc.). You will collaborate with ING offices around the world and with all product groups, a real career booster and the ultimate way to boost your network.
