Salary: $3,107.16- $3,649.33 Bi-Weekly / $80,786.16 - $94,882.58 Annually (PR 17)

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Database Design and Development: work closely with application architects and developers to design, develop, and implement application databases that support business requirements and application functionality.
  • Schema Management: manage the logical structure of the databases, including tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures, ensuring efficient data access and manipulation.
  • Query Optimization: specialize on developing and optimizing SQL queries and database access patterns/layers to improve application performance.
  • Application Support: provide production support for database-related issues encountered by application users and developers, troubleshooting and resolving problems as needed.
  • Data Migration: plan, develop and execute data migration and other ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) projects, ensuring data consistency and integrity during the transition.
  • Collaboration with Development Teams: work closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure that the database design meets the application needs.
  • Documentation and Standards: maintain comprehensive documentation of database schemas, design decisions, and best practices, ensuring consistency and quality across the application database environment.
  • Secure Coding and Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee rigorous secure coding, testing, and quality assurance protocols. Ensure adherence to industry best practices and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with stakeholders across technical and non-technical domains. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align the technology strategy with overarching business goals. Engage closely with key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Project Guidance: Collaborate closely with project managers to guide development projects, ensuring successful navigation through the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical and security risks associated with software projects to ensure secure and robust solution delivery. Oversee the Cyber Security Risk Management (CSRM) processes to ensure compliance and uphold security standards in development projects.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends. Regularly review and update systems and practices to ensure they remain relevant and effective

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, plus 5 years of experience; or graduated from a recognized Information Technology Programs, plus years and 6 months experience. At least, 2 years in a senior application development and architectural role with a proven track record of leading sizable software development projects.
  • SQL and PL/SQL: Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries, as well as developing stored procedures and other database objects.
  • Database Design: Strong understanding of database design principles, including normalization, indexing, and data modeling.
  • Application Development: Familiarity with application development processes and methodologies, enabling effective collaboration with development teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, ensuring smooth application performance. Innovative thinking with a focus on developing efficient and effective solutions.
  • Development Methodologies: Proficient in Agile methodologies and tools such as Scrum, complemented by strong planning and project technical leadership skills.
  • Documentation Skills: Able to create clear and concise documentation and generate accurate reports for reference and collaboration.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Capable of engaging effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven leadership skills with experience in mentoring and guiding teams.
  • Quality Assurance Methodologies: Knowledgeable and understanding of IT compliance, quality controls, best practices, and security standards

Responsibilities:

You will join our Application Development and Production Support (ADPS) team, a key provider of application development and production support services for our partner departments and agencies across various business domains. As an Application Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, implementing, and administering application databases that align with our business goals and technology strategy. Your contributions will be particularly vital to the Land Programs system modernization project. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to re-engineer the Land Programs system, refine core modules, and develop new services. Your primary objective will be to ensure that the modernized Land Programs database system is scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable.
