Job Description:
The
Department of Justice (DOJ)
is looking for an experienced Applications Developer (Information Systems Specialist 6) to join our Information Services Team. The selected candidate will provide technical services to assist the Department in attaining its business objectives through the development, acquisition, implementation, maintenance, and operation of business application software. The position serves as an analyst and developer for multiple DOJ software application systems and will participate on a wide variety of technology projects impacting the Department and its customers throughout the State of Oregon.

WHAT YOU WILL DO (in part)

  • Develop or modify software to support re-engineered business processes using Department standard development toolsets and techniques.
  • Contribute to the design and development of standards, business processes, software architecture and strategic direction of the Information Services section.
  • Diagnose complex system problems and crashes. Respond to information system failures that may be critical to all agency and DA offices staff as well as other agencies and the public.
  • Work with business, partner agency and IS staff by participating in business meetings to define business requirements and assist in cost analysis to anticipate customer resource needs.
  • Research and evaluate new industry products, approaches and technology directions with focus on how they may be integrated or adopted into DOJ technology. Test new technology with existing systems. Develop new skills that can be applied to current and future projects.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES AND ATTRIBUTES

Five (5) years of information systems experience that demonstrate knowledge or ability to work in a Java development environment. Education will be counted as experience if degree was in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or if a two (2) year accredited vocational training program was completed in information technology or related field.

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or 2-year vocational training in an accredited training program in information technology or related field) = Two (2) Years experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field = Four (4) Years experience.

Work experience is based on a 40-hour work week. (Example: 20 hours a week for one year would equal six-months of work experience.)
