Our Electron Microscopy business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries, increase efficiency, and ultimately change the world. The EM business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.
Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy and with deep application knowledge in the Materials Science, Life Sciences, and Semiconductor markets, the worldwide Electron Microscopy employees are dedicated to customers pursuit of discovery and resolution to global challenges.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and recent hands-on experience with XPS are required.
  • 5 years of demonstrated ability in a relevant position within the research environment with recent experience using surface analysis technologies (XPS, SEM, SIMS, AFM) is preferred.
  • Strong interest in electron microscopy and correlative workflows would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of advanced technology diagnostics as well as troubleshooting techniques, operational optimization, and experience of analytical equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills tailored for a diverse audience are critical for this position.
  • Excellent customer interfacing skills a must.
  • Proven track record to work well with cross-functional and cross-cultural diverse teams.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 50%), possession of a valid passport.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform high quality XPS product demonstrations, including the development of new techniques and applications for Thermo Fisher Scientific partners and customers, particularly those in the Materials Science marketplace.
  • Conduct customer training and translate customer needs into workable solutions.
  • Technical product guide assisting with all phases of the sales cycle.
  • Cultivating positive customer relationships and acting as a high-level customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues, explaining complex technology details, giving in depth technical presentations, and assisting in applications development.
  • Customer support and applications training post sales cycle and after instrument has been installed.
  • Provide continuous feedback to the product groups on system performance, features, and potential problems while collaborating with marketing/development groups on future product developments.
