Position Summary:
The main role of this position is to support Scientists and Researchers using Mass Spectrometry products in the ANZ region, specifically in the LSMS markets. This includes pre- and post-sale activities, providing technical support, conducting customer demonstrations and sample analysis, and offering direct customer support on- and off-site. The LC-MS Applications Specialist will be based in NSW and aims to improve the customer experience, empowering them to advance their research in various fields. Regular communication with customers, troubleshooting, assisting with experimental design, and providing data analysis support are key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage customer relationships from prospect to satisfied customer
Assist in qualifying and preparing customer instrument demonstration requests
Perform customer instrument demonstrations and provide comprehensive reports
Communicate effectively with sales colleagues and other relevant parties for proper organization of customer demonstrations
Monitor LC-MS and related equipment performance
Support LC-MS Product Specialists in critical sales situations on-site and off-site
Provide technical support to customers and collaborators on-site and off-site
Conduct training for customers on instrument installations
Gather VOC (Voice of Customer) information
Present scientific or technical posters and presentations at conferences and events
Test and provide feedback on new applications, workflows, instruments, and software tools
Collaborate with other team members within the organization
Collaborate with HPLC/IC/SP specialists to improve demonstration performance of LC + LC-MS products
Collaborate with service engineers and management to resolve customer issues and support needs
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • PhD in Biochemistry
  • Minimum 5 years of LCMS experience
  • Understanding of LCMS in specific markets
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Expertise in various chromatographic and sample preparation software tools
  • Proficiency in operating multiple LC/MS platforms
  • Expert level operation and training in chromatographic and sample preparation software tools including: Tracefinder, Compound Discoverer, Proteome Discoverer, Xcalibur, LipidSearch, mzCloud.
  • Must be proficient at operating, installing, maintaining and training to expert level in Thermo Fisher Scientific LC/ MS platforms (TSQs and HRAM platforms).
  • Expert level in the following MS techniques: Proteomics, Metabolomics, MS imaging , Top down and Native MS, Quantitation in small molecule and OMICs
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%
