Computacenter is offering an exciting apprenticeship opportunity to become a specialist in providing technical support to business users using our market-leading IT Service Management platform. You’ll join our Group Information Services (GIS) function who are responsible for delivering, managing, and maintaining the systems that support Computacenter’s business. This includes our IT infrastructure and core applications. As an apprentice, you will have the chance to learn and assist in various technical support activities to ensure smooth service delivery for our customers.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

As you can tell this exciting role will give you a lot of skills and knowledge, but we do have some requirements upfront. As well as a strong interest in IT you should be able to demonstrate the following.

  • You will need to have achieved GCSE’s in Maths, English Language GCSE grade 4/ C or above. If you do not hold these grades in both English and Maths, we can support you to gain this by the time you complete your apprenticeship.
  • A highly motivated and organised individual with a systematic approach to problem-solving.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating proficiency in both written and verbal communication across various organisational levels.
  • The ability to build relationships quickly and confidently within the business.
  • A foundational understanding of IT methodologies is beneficial, though not required.

Please note that for successful applicants, offers will be conditional on passing additional eligibility checks with our training provider which will include a Maths and English assessment and a review of any previous qualifications you hold. Due to the funding requirements of the apprenticeship, if you already hold an IT Level 3 standard, GNVQ, BTEC or equivalent qualification we will need to review your modules studied to confirm eligibility.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

For the duration of your programme, you will be studying towards a Level 3 Digital Support Technician qualification. Throughout your apprenticeship you will dedicate 80% of your time in work and 20% studying toward your qualification.

The role responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with a support team to gain expertise in providing technical support.
  • Learn and assist in performing a range of technical support activities on Computacenter’s IT Service Management platform, ensuring business users can effectively deliver services to customers.
  • Gain hands-on experience in delivering system fixes for support issues through configuration or development, contributing to the continuous improvement of our IT infrastructure support services
  • Assist in the delivery of weekly production support checks to ensure the smooth running of the IT service management platform. Learn to perform patch testing, maintenance, and monitor platform performance.
  • Engage with development and other teams to analyse, document, and report on work completed, ensuring compliance with company procedures and best practices.
  • Learn and demonstrate the necessary skills and behaviours to securely operate across systems and areas of responsibility in line with organizational principles and information security policies
  • Identify learning goals for self-development in line with business objectives with support from manager.
  • Works towards gaining system support certifications with a view to improve knowledge and capability.
  • Act in accordance with Computacenter Information Security Policies and report any potential or actual Security events or other Security risks to the organisation.
