SUMMARY:
The System Analyst couples knowledge of business practices/operations with knowledge of information systems to implement, maintain, and support UNC Health applications. Provides a high level of technical support (development, testing, integration and implementation) of applications and interfaces which deliver IT tools and support business functions across the health system. Performs project management, requirements definitions, systems design, analysis, code development, problem resolution and vendor coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Applies best practices to the management of the information system life cycle.
- Functions as primary liaison between the practice and support departments/ teams at UNCH;
- Analyzes customer requirements; researches, designs, acquires, and implements innovative systems.
- Coordinates and operationalizes simple to complex projects with direction.
- Identifies areas for procedural improvements. Provides detailed specifications describing functions to be automated.
- Assists in the evaluation and revision of existing information systems.
- Identifies gaps in efficient workflow adoption at all practice sites of UNCH;
- Analyzes modify designs, and researches information systems and processes.
- Responds to end-user requests for issue resolution and works to resolve problems quickly and accurately;
- Assists with enhancement requests of end users, documentation, and prioritization as well as efforts to reduce the variation of clinical processes throughout practice workflows.
- Makes oral and written presentations to project teams, management, and other departments.
- Works with the QI team to design and configure requested clinical templates and/or forms for enabling a more efficient workflow;
- Area of responsibility: Ambulatory Services, Population Health, Virtual Care, Unified Communications, Post-Acute Care, etc.
OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Physician Practice experience Practice manager/Clinical staff
- Population Health experience
- Provider and/or Practice efficiency improvements
- Provider billing
- Quality improvement
- Training
- Evaluate and Designing workflow enhancements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- No licensure or certification required.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- If a Bachelor’s degree: Four (4) years of experience with IT systems and/or related operational experience.
- If an Associate’s degree: Six (6) years of IT systems and/or related operational experience.
- If a High School diploma or GED: Eight (8) years of IT systems and/or related operational experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent analytical and communication skills. Ability to work well in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Highly responsive to internal customers.
