The Opportunity
AIA Australia has a fantastic opportunity for the Technical Delivery Lead – Applications to take a lead role in delivering technical portion of small to large size projects. This exciting key role will see you engaging with other technology functions, Architecture, Tech Risk, Infrastructure, Project Delivery, and support. Contribute to, influence, and supervise key elements of the development and deployment of the technical solution.

To do this successfully you will:

• Have an end-to-end view of the technical portfolio activities ensuring successful solution design and implementation.
• Drive application life cycle improvements such as End of Life remediation, Addressing / Preventing from Security Vulnerabilities, Supportability and Automation
• Design and detail major technical components of applications, including components such as Business Services (using Java), Azure functions (using Java), API Gateway, middleware and infrastructure.
• Take full responsibility for defining a technical solution based on business requirements and related Solution Architecture Design for Platforms, Applications.
• Build designs that address relevant areas of complexity and provide a fully considered and detailed solution design.
• Ensure a flawless integration of new and existing applications.
• Optimize technical design to promote re-usability of technical components.
• Lead Development Teams (local and offshore) and vendors to deliver required software solution.
• Onboarding, Induction and Mentoring to new staff.

Successful applications will demonstrate:

• Solid commercial experience of working within software development projects preferably in insurance or financial industry.
• Extensive experience in application development, software design and architecture
• Proven experience in Agile (Scrum) & Waterfall, ability to switch between methodology’s and stay focused in delivering business outcomes.
• Responsive design concepts, continuous improvement knowledge.
• Understanding of available tools, popular standards, and work techniques
• Knowledge of architectural patterns and software design patterns, with demonstrable experience of applying the patterns to technical design.
• Ability to manage the development team requirements who work with Spring Core Framework, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, Maven, ORM technologies, Unit Testing framework, Security concepts and Test automation framework.
• Strong advocate in shift left strategy, enabling the delivery team to find problems earlier in the SDLC phase and resolve.
• Experience in containerisation, Azure functions (using java), continuous integration/delivery framework.
