Description:

We’re looking for an Applied Psychologist to join our friendly, highly-skilled and enthusiastic community of psychologists and psychological therapists in the Brighton & Hove Assessment & Treatment Service.
This is a permanent Band 7 post (WTE 0.78; 29.25 hours/week) where you will be working with people with complex mental health problems, their families and carers.
Applicants must be registered as Practitioner Psychologists with the HCPC, although applications from psychologists who are about to qualify are also very welcome.
We are keen to support your professional development and will support you to undertake additional specialist training relevant to the post, plus the regular CPD opportunities for psychologists available in the Trust. There will also be the opportunity for you to have protected time to gain experience in other parts of Brighton community mental health services if this would be of interest.
We would like to support you to develop a specialism within your role to build your expertise in an area of interest, such as within trauma, psychosis or complex emotional and relational needs. Please talk with us if you have an area of work you’re passionate about and would like to develop.
You will be part of the Brighton and Hove Assessment & Treatment Service (ATS), which provides community mental health services for adults of all ages. The service is multi-professional and based across two hubs; East Brighton Community Mental Health Centre and at Mill View Hospital in Hove. This post will be based within our Mill View hub. The ATS places a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary team working and close working relationships with other local mental health services and community organisations.
Brighton Psychologists are valued members of the service and offer specialist assessments and interventions, psychological formulation and team consultation. Our Psychologists also have skills and interests in supporting professional colleagues to develop and use psychological thinking in their work and in contributing psychological perspectives to service users’ care plans.
The psychological workforce in ATS has expertise in a wide range of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy, EMDR and systemic family therapy.
You will be creative and flexible in adapting to change and able to educate and inspire others in working with people with complex mental health problems.
As a mental health trust Sussex Partnership places a huge focus on the wellbeing of our staff, as well as ensuring our reward packages reflect the immensely important work they do.

REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be a successful Applied Clinical/Counselling Psychologist in our team, you will have:

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (or its equivalent)
  • Professional registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC or eligible to apply on completion of training.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings and a full range of clinical severity.
