We have a number of exciting opportunities for Apprentice Assistant Project Managers to join our Central Engineering Team within the Story England Division, based from our Derby and Birmingham offices - and there has never been a better time to join!
Story Contracting has extensive experience in civil engineering and permanent way in the railway industry. We are award winning and have built a strong reputation for delivering a range of rail projects from earthworks, trackworks, structures and property.

As Apprentice Assistant Project Manager you will support the project team during the development and delivery phases of the project through the production and ongoing maintenance of high-quality planning documents and information. To engage with the Site Manager, pre-construction, and delivery team to assist with ensuring methodologies incorporated are in line with their plans. To liaise with subcontractors, 3rd Parties and Authorities on behalf of the Project Team, as required.

  • The ideal candidate will have attained a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 (higher C) or above including English & Science; A BTEC qualification at Level 2 with an overall grade of Merit or higher.
  • An Intermediate Diploma in a relevant subject area to a Merit or Distinction grade. The candidate should also have GCSE English at grade 4 or above and GCSE Maths at grade 5 or above.

By undertaking a 2 year apprenticeship you will be given the opportunity to continue your academic studies to Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Civil Engineering, receive structured ‘on the job’ training to support your chosen career development and earn while you learn!
You will be keen to learn, resilient, ambitious and a strong team-player. Due to the nature of the role you must hold a full UK driving license as you will be travelling between sites and offices.
