Description:
A full-time training post has become available at the West of London Breast Screening Service (WoLBSS) which is part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, an academic health science centre (AHSC). This is an opportunity to work in one of the largest breast screening and symptomatic units in England, where you can make a worthwhile contribution in a warm and friendly environment. The Breast Unit regularly participates in research, and actively encourages CPD and collaborative team working.
The successful applicant will take the Apprenticeship course, and once this has been successfully gained will be a Band 4 Associate Practitioner. Applicants must have been living in the UK for at least 3 years, and must have the English and Maths pre-requisites for the Apprenticeship course.
WoLBSS provides services to women registered with GPs in Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster and Hillingdon. The service is based at Charing Cross Hospital and has remote static sites located at Charing Cross Hospital, the Heart of Hounslow Centre for Health, St Mary’s Hospital, Uxbridge Health Centre and Hanwell Health Centre. This post necessitates travel across this area. All sites use digital mammography equipment and the service is proudly one of the first in the country to pilot paperlite screening.

To complete the Associate Practitioner Apprenticeship in mammograph
To work towards being able to carry out routine mammography examinations of a very high standard that are adequate for radiological interpretation in 97% of cases
To provide an excellent standard of care to women at all times
To perform regular Quality Assurance tests on the X-ray equipment and ensure that the results are accurately logged; to inform the Senior Radiographer or Quality Assurance Radiographer immediately of any results that are outside agreed parameters
To assist radiographers and radiologists in all areas of the breast service as required
To work within the Radiographic Healthcare Assistants team as required
