ABOUT US

Apprenticeship Support Australia (ASA) in partnership with the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the Australian Government’s contract to support apprenticeships and traineeships in Victoria for 2024 – 2026, set to begin on 1 July.
ASA is excited to leverage our 26 years of existing apprenticeship support through enhanced services to further improve retention, completion and satisfaction rates for apprentices and their employers. ASA will continue to provide free quality end-to-end advice and assistance, ensuring a clear understanding for apprentices and employers on how to access quality support when needed throughout their apprenticeship or traineeship.
Apprenticeships and traineeships play a vital role in the Australian Vocational Educational and Training system. They contribute significantly to the Australian economy by bridging the gap between individuals career aspirations and employer’s skills requirements. These apprenticeships provide opportunities for people to receive training, pursue studies and earn an income across a diverse range of occupations. ASA is proud to be a national contributor to this vital system.
About the role
ASA is a specialist services provider for WMDT providing support to female apprentices and their employers addressing challenges including but not limited to cultural barriers to participation, inflexible workplaces, impacts of carer responsibilities, lack of support including necessary amenities for women.
This role supports WMDT apprentices primarily face-to-face in person in the field with issues that range from basic to complex and may include, but are not limited to, issues such as not getting the appropriate training or supervision, ongoing disputes with their employer, bullying, and/or personal or mental health issues or performance.
The Mentor will also create and draw on peer networks and industry connections to help better support awareness of barriers to women’s workforce participation and their contribution to Australia’s workforce with the overall aim of increasing completions and participation.
