What is the job role?

SALARY: £42,403 TO £49,498 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE (PRO/RATA) (PLUS SHIFT ALLOWANCE - 10% ADDITIONAL TO ANNUAL SALARY) & ON-CALL FEES, ADDITIONAL RATES OF PAY FOR OUT OF HOURS WORKING AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADDITIONAL HOURS

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Approved Mental Health Professional to join an experienced and well-established AMHP team, with excellent terms and conditions. As a Coventry City Council employee you will be employed under s.75 NHS Act (2006) and will therefore work closely with the Home Treatment Team within Coventry.

You will be expected to:-

  • contribute to the 24/7 AMHP rota (shifts will include:- 9am-5pm, 11am to 7pm, 2pm to 10pm, 2pm to 10pm with a late on call through the night (you will have a protected shift following the late on call shift))
  • respond to requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act (1983)
  • develop personalised and least restrictive home treatment plans to prevent compulsory admission
  • complete assessments under Care Act (2014) and MCA (2005) as required
  • write and present Social Circumstance Reports to Mental Health Review Tribunals
  • work very closely with a wide range of NHS and multi-disciplinary colleagues

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?

If you are ready for the challenge you will need to demonstrate:

  • a genuine commitment to anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practice, person centred interventions and to meeting the needs of individuals who may be in acute mental health distress. Ensuring they are treated with respect, dignity and compassion at all times
  • a high standard of legal literacy with respect to all relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act (2005) and their Codes of Practice, Care Act (2014), Equality Act (2010), The Human Rights Act (1998)
  • you are an excellent Team player and are well organised and able to prioritise risk and urgency of work
  • negotiation and active listening skills with all relevant audiences, including citizens from a very diverse community
  • you are able to work competently and professionally with partner agencies, including the Police, Ambulance Service and NHS colleagues in order to achieve high quality and creative outcomes for individuals that we are engaging with/ are in our care
