The Dispute Resolution Branch within the Legal Division, a specialist in-house legal practice that supports lawful implementation of the Department’s objectives by advising on the management of legal risk as well as providing legal advice, litigation, internal reviews and dispute resolution services.
Opportunities are currently available for suitably qualified and experienced candidates for APS 5 and APS6 roles in the Discretionary Claims and External Review section. The roles fulfil a critical function in the Branch, to plan and conduct investigations and make recommendations to the authorised decision-makers. The successful candidate will be part of a team of lawyers and non-lawyers dedicated to investigating and resolving a range of stakeholder issues in different external forums.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high quality investigation officer services that meet client expectations, taking into consideration legal and non-legal risks, and the broader environment in which DVA and the Minister operate.
- Prepare, draft, and review of moderately complex legal documents under supervision.
- Develop and maintain client relationships and promote the Legal and Audit Division as DVA’s trusted legal advisors.
- Support leadership through promoting a positive working environment within the Team and Branch, and contributing to corporate leadership activities.
