The Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Financial Operations Directorate is looking for a Treasury Officer to support the Treasury function and lead process improvements initiatives.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Our ideal applicants will have proven experience in Treasury Management, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a meticulous attention to detail, an excellent understanding of Whole of Australian Government legislation, policies, procedures and experience using financial systems and software packages (e.g. CBMS, TechnologyOne and Microsoft Excel). You will be responsive in high pressure and changing environments and have the ability to work independently and apply strategic thinking for decision making. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be innovative, have a continuous improvement mindset and be able to implement changes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise and technical knowledge in Treasury Management.
- Responsible for daily drawdowns via CBMS.
- Responsible for monthly bank reconciliations.
- Management of RBA accounts.
- Responsible for Invoicing and Debt Collection.
- Undertake research interpret and apply legislative requirements including Commonwealth financial compliance and legislative frameworks to resolve moderately complex issues.
- Build rapport and maintain internal and external relationships, respond to enquiries, provide assistance and factual advice in a timely manner.
- Manage prioritisation of own workloads, ensuring work activities are completed to agreed timeframes and standard, undertake quality assurance reviews of information and work, and ensuring quality customer service and advice.
- Utilise financial analysis tools and systems, to capture, research, analyse, problem solve and reconcile data.
- Update and maintain Policies and Procedures relating to Treasury Management and Accounts Receivable and lead process improvement initiatives.
- Preparation and approval of end of month processes including but not limited to:
- reconciliations,
- journals, and
- executive and management reporting.
