The Provider Assurance and Support Section forms part of the Program Delivery Division. The Provider Assurance team is responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing management of assurance activities for DVA’s healthcare providers. The program of work incorporates risk and data analysis to prepare and implement forward work plan, developing and refining the supporting assurance framework, and analysing data assets for the purpose of assurance activities.
The Senior Assurance Data Analyst will undertake data extraction and analyses to support the delivery of the forward work plan for assurance activities for DVA’s healthcare providers. The role provides support and expertise to the assurance team.
We are seeking an experienced individual with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, adept at engaging with stakeholders across various levels of the organisation. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to develop and manage internal and external relationships, anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations effectively. Proficiency in SQL, SAS, or similar data analysis tools is essential, along with extensive experience in undertaking complex data analysis and supporting business analysis activities. Additionally, knowledge of published methodologies used in the Australian Hospital sector would be advantageous. The ideal candidate should be capable of working with limited direction, setting priorities, and ensuring high-quality outputs. We are looking for someone who can contribute to team capacity building through coaching and feedback, and may be required to supervise staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake complex data analysis projects to support business analysis and improvement activities within the Provider Assurance team. This requires understanding and integration of broader DVA business context.
  • Identify and transform data from multiple sources, guided by existing frameworks and patterns, into a new dataset for use in analysis and risk or behaviour modelling.
  • Use basic functionalities of common applications and platforms to generate analysis outputs, understand the analytical and/or modelling methodology being used and build repeatable solutions.
  • Use best practice data modelling methods to organise data objects (for example, predictive modelling, advanced clustering, text mining, social network analysis and association rules)
  • Utilise suitable data analysis tools and techniques to interpret data, reduce bias, find patterns or trends, validate unexpected results and solve problems.
  • Design, build, test and maintain data solutions, systems and databases to solve data related problems related to the work of the Assurance team.
  • Communicate findings and insights from data to technical and non-technical stakeholders including Assurance Officers using reports and dashboards that may require creation or modification using visualisation techniques.
  • Develop, fit, diagnose, and troubleshoot business rules to identify organisational risk and/or client behavior.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and use appropriate templates/version control to ensure repeatable, reproducible results by developing data definitions, dictionaries, metadata and data quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with other data professionals and business stakeholders to support process improvements and apply data governance and data quality frameworks.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to team members and supervise staff as required.
  • Drive positive change and contribute to business improvement strategies and change initiatives.
