Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working within the dynamic Capability Support Branch, the primary focus of the role is to support the development, implementation and management of best practice portfolio, program and project management (P3M) practices in the agency. This includes the governance and management of processes such as the Strategic Portfolio Investment process, monitoring status and performance of programs and projects, developing and implementing metrics to demonstrate value from projects, supporting external assurance and audit of projects.
The role will also provide support and advice to project managers and project team members, and assurance on the progress of projects to departmental executives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing portfolio plans, strategies, and objectives aligned with organisational goals
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to portfolio management and project governance.
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making by providing insights and analysis based on portfolio data.
  • Conduct evaluations and analysis to measure outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation on portfolio performance, highlighting key achievements, risks, and challenges.
  • Support capability development initiatives within the portfolio, such as training programs, skills assessments, and knowledge sharing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices in project management and portfolio governance.

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering portfolio, program and/or project support, or similar, role.
  • Ability to support strategic direction and promote the department’s vision, mission and business objectives, by identifying the relationship between organisational goals and operational tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills including experience in explaining concepts, as well as the preparation and delivery of a range of written material to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in and across teams in a high tempo environment as well as individually when required.
  • Communicates with influence to confidently present information in a concise and articulate manner, using appropriate, unambiguous language.
  • Builds and sustains positive and productive relationships with team members, and stakeholders
