Bexley is an outer London Borough with the best of both worlds, located between the hustle and bustle of London and the Garden of England, Kent. Within the borough we have award winning parks, open spaces and listed heritage sites.
Bexley Local Studies and Archives is looking to recruit an Archives Officer to assist with the operation of the service.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The post requires good administrative skills and involves undertaking some technical work, such as adding new materials to the collections using IT systems.
You will contribute to the creation of a local studies strategy that seeks to create community connections, engage communities with their heritage and support cohesion in Bexley.
The post requires occasional evenings and weekends when there are events such as talks. There is currently one regular event per month on Saturday day time, plus occasional other events.

Responsibilities:

Based at Central Library, Bexleyheath, the service hosts the borough archives as well as collections of local studies materials that capture the history of Bexley.
The successful applicant be required to provide a high level of customer service, supporting users with accessing materials, undertaking research, hosting school visits and working with partners to deliver projects that highlight and celebrate Bexley’s history. They will also promote the service through social media and other channels.
