We are looking for 2 Archivists to join the Digital Archive Relocation Project in our Parliamentary Archives Office at House of Lords. This is a position where you will undertake work on ensuring catalogue data and digital records held in Parliamentary Archives systems are sufficiently prepared for their migration and transfer to The National Archives (TNA). These roles will work closely together, whilst each taking overall responsibility for one of the Parliamentary Archives’ two main systems for preserving and managing our collections – Preservica (Enterprise Edition) and Axiell CALM.
There is the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis dependent on business need. This is a unique opportunity for someone to work on migration of the digital data and metadata relating to one of the country’s most important archives.

IT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAD OR IF YOU’RE WILLING TO LEARN…

  • Experience of undertaking administrative tasks in CALM, such as running scripts and making mass changes.
  • Experience using a digital repository or digital asset management system.
The job description provides full details about the role and what we are looking for.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with audit of metadata in Parliamentary Archives systems, identify and complete necessary data cleansing and reconciliation between systems prior to migration.
  • Support activity to map fields and data held in the Parliamentary Archives catalogue to the National Archives catalogue.
  • Identify opportunities for data enrichment and enhancement to improve the quality, usability and portability of Parliamentary Archives data.
  • Support DAR team and Parliamentary Archives colleagues to scope and implement collections management processes around future records transfer to TNA.
  • In collaboration with DAR team and Parliamentary Archives colleagues, support work to scope out, design and test systems for ongoing transfer of digital records to TNA.
  • Contribute to the review and migration of Parliamentary Archives’ published web content.
