JOB SUMMARY

As the Area Manager / Area Matron, you will lead and manage a cohesive area team in the delivery of a safe and sufficient blood and component supply, across several blood donation teams. Committed to and holding all to account for the delivery and continuous improvement of an excellent donor experience, maximising donor loyalty and retention through leading and managing several blood donation teams within a specific area.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Substantial management and leadership experience in a clinical environment at a senior level.
  • Experience of successful improvement in service delivery and implementation of change.
  • Experience in financial management and budget control.
  • Knowledge of patient safety initiatives and strategies and risk management.
  • Experience of mentorship, coaching and presentation of educational materials.
  • Experience of managing clinical environments within a regulatory framework e.g. the Blood and Safety Quality Regulations, Care Quality Standards and Good Manufacturing Guidelines.
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), or equivalent Systems

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

  • Educated to masters level as demonstrated either by academic qualification or supported by extensive management and leadership experience at a senior level.
  • Evidence of commitment to continued learning and application in practice.
  • Substantial experience of managing clinical environments within a regulatory framework e.g. the Blood and Safety Quality Regulations (BSQR), Care Quality Standards and Good Manufacturing Guidelines (GMP).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the (BSQR) and (GMP).

Responsibilities:

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB

  • You will lead and manage an area team in the delivery of an essential frontline service and be responsible for the delivery of efficiency and sufficiency strategic targets within your area.
  • You will be accountable for achieving all key performance indicators through visible, confident and assured leadership and performance management.
  • You will be a visible leader who will set and promote the behaviours required to deliver an excellent donation experience
  • You will be committed to the delivery and continuous improvement of an excellent donor experience, maximising donor loyalty and retention.
  • You will undertake the role and responsibilities of the Blood Donation designated Responsible Person (RP) for a named blood centre (s) as described in the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005.
    You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.
