ABOUT THE ROLE
CatholicCare’s Permanency Support Program listens to the voices of young people in our care, recognises their uniqueness and tailor’s responses to their individual needs. We build safe and engaged pathways through our broad suite of services and develop strong links to communities that support our young people beyond the bounds of Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC).
As a result of our growth initiative, a newly created position is now available for a skilled & experienced ITC Area Manager to join our Sydney Metro team on a full-time permanent basis. The role of the Area Manager is pivotal in overseeing the effective operations of intensive therapeutic care houses, ensuring the provision of tailored support to young individuals within the framework of ITC principles. Collaborating closely with the House Supervisors, the Area Manager plays a central role in fostering a culture of positivity and empowerment while managing risks in accordance with CatholicCare safeguarding and workplace health and safety standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strengths-based solutions focused supervision, support and mentoring to 5 House Supervisors and their Teams.
- Supervise all daily operations from the allocated house/s.
- Management of house finances & budgets, administration, client record keeping, rosters, HR, training & onboarding.
- Ensure compliance with incident management, reporting and escalation requirements and that organisational obligations under mandatory reporting, child protection, safeguarding and WHS.
- Ensuring the quality of service provision aligns with CatholicCare standards & regulatory requirements.
- Implementing trauma-informed practices.
- Assisting with staff recruitment and rostering.
- Overseeing budgetary and administrative tasks.
Additionally, the Area Manager provides leadership and support to the Care Team, facilitates stakeholder engagement, and advocates for the rights and well-being of children and young people. Upholding CatholicCare’s Mission, Vision, and Values, the Area Manager is a role model, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies. This role demands flexibility, including the ability to work outside regular hours, participate in on-call systems, and fulfill roster requirements, with opportunities for professional development and expanded responsibilities as needed.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:
- Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Social Welfare, including electives on trauma, OR relevant Diploma AND Graduate Certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years’ direct experience in working with high risk or vulnerable children and young people in an out of home care environment.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading a small team using contemporary approaches.
- A well-developed understanding of Out of Home Care Services, Intensive Therapeutic Care and Child protection and support in NSW and experience in their practical application.
- Strong youth engagement and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage crisis situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Commitment to EEO, WHS, risk management and quality improvement practices.
- Current Driver’s Licence and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
- High level of positive regard for children and young people.
