Marathon Petroleum Company LP’s Louisiana Refining Division at our Garyville Refinery currently has a vacancy for an Area Team Engineer in the Engineering Department. This position offers a work schedule of 5/8’s, 9/80’s
Overview: We are seeking a motivated, team oriented individual to provide project management and mechanical design services for a refinery process operations team and/or capital project team. Projects include new capital projects and modifications needed to properly maintain and optimize existing operating units. Projects typically range in size from $20,000 - $5,000,000. Management of multiple projects concurrently is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Applying project management skills in all phases of project engineering from conception to closeout.
  • Managing multiple projects and assignments in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
  • Providing mechanical support and troubleshooting skills for Area Teams.
  • Participating in area HAZOP reviews and incident investigations.
  • Coordinating work of in-house designers and outside engineering contractors
  • Developing scope, cost estimates, and schedules for capital projects.
  • Providing mechanical assistance to the Area Teams during process unit Turnarounds.
  • Interacting daily with project team members developing and executing project objectives
  • Conferring with management and project stakeholders throughout a project life cycle

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years post degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry is preferred.
