Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Managing Woodshop, CNC router, Foundry, Ceramics, Printmaking, Drawing & Painting studios and keeping them in optimal working condition including:o Keep the wood shop organized and tools in operating order, performing maintenance and repairs as needed.o Maintaining dust collection systems and ventilation systems.o Keep supplies in stock to keep machines in working order.o Keep space conducive to custodial cleaning duties; supervise regular cleanups.o Oversees the day-to-day operations, repairs, and renovations of all the Art & Design studio facilities, maintaining furniture, studio materials, and classroom equipment.o Research and recommend purchases of tools and equipment. Place orders for maintaining inventory of equipment.o Occasionally assist with special projects and maintenance for all areas of the Art & Design Department as needed.o Develop a workflow available to fit all the department’s diverse needs.o Work with faculty to ensure an orderly and quality completion of projects requested.
  • Guide and assist students with fabrication questions on their projects, serving as a consultant for the Art & Design Department.o Work directly with the faculty to provide training and oversee the students on the safe practice of equipment.o Develop safety training and protocols for equipment and keep records of students/faculty who have completed the training.o Facilitate and manage the implementation of shop rules and systems to students/faculty.o Monitor and assist students while they are working on projects, provide support when needed.
  • Assist in envisioning ongoing future growth and development of studio spaces in consultation with the department head and faculty.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in BA/BFA in Studio Art with two (2) years of related experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
  • Working knowledge of woodworking equipment, processes, and techniques is required.
  • Attention to cleanliness, safety procedures, and organizational methods.
  • Willing to develop systems and implement them.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with the students and the Art & Design faculty.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical, safety, and instructional support.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of CNC Router, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
  • Experience with CAD or other software.
  • Experience with ceramics, foundry, printmaking, drawing, and painting processes and materials.Salary: $36,000.00. Commensurate with education and experience.
