We are currently looking for a AS400 developer to work for an insurance industry project.

NECESSARY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-5 years of experience in application development and maintenance using RPG/LE and SDA on the AS/400 platform.
• Strong understanding of AS/400 architecture, system administration concepts, and security protocols.
• Solid foundation in RPG programming including file I/O, subroutines, and data structures.
• Experience with SDA screen design and development principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• A passion for maintaining legacy systems and keeping them operational.
• A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies for potential AS/400 modernization efforts.
• English Level: Upper intermediate.

WHAT YOU´LL DO

You´ll be in charge of helping one of the insurance most important companies worldwide to provide support and improve their internal applications ecosystem.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, test, and implement new features and functionalities for insurance applications using RPGLE and SDA.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for the AS/400 environment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot existing RPGLE applications, including bug fixes, performance optimization, and code refactoring.
• Utilize SDA to design, develop, and maintain user interfaces for AS/400 applications.
• Monitor and manage batch jobs, ensuring timely execution and identifying potential issues.
• (Desirable) Utilize RPG II to maintain and support even older legacy applications.
• (Desirable) Leverage Power Shell for scripting and automation tasks related to AS/400 system management.
• (Desirable) Stay current with evolving trends in AS/400 modernization, including potential migration to microservices architectures.
• Maintain a strong understanding of insurance industry workflows and their application to develop effective AS/400 solutions.
• Document code and processes clearly for future reference and knowledge sharing.
